The main sweep — ~260 call sites across ~100 files move from string
concatenation on a single root to appDir/storageAppDirs/storageAppConfigs.
On a single-root install the resolved paths are identical, so this is a
no-op until a location is registered.
Enumerators were the interesting half. `for d in "$containers_dir"/*/`
appears in the menus, the registry/artifact scanners and the DNS setup —
and a shell glob cannot list a rootless 751 tree at all, which is the
same bug config_find_file.sh already documents in a comment. Routing them
through storageAppDirs (which enumerates as the owning user) fixes that
alongside the multi-root work.
Three places needed judgement rather than substitution:
db_app_scan.sh deletes database rows and port allocations for apps whose
folder is missing, and reaps "empty" app dirs. With a storage location
unmounted, every app on it looks exactly like that. Each of those
branches now gates on appStorageAvailable first — an app on an unplugged
drive is skipped with a notice, never deleted.
instance_create.sh rewrites cloned hooks so an instance touches its own
directory instead of the base app's. Its sed matched ${containers_dir}<type>,
which this sweep just replaced with $(appDir <type>) — so it would have
silently stopped redirecting, and an instance would have written to the
original's files (the adguard auth adapter case its own comment warns
about). Now matches both appDir forms, verified against bare, quoted,
unrelated-app, legacy and prose cases.
peer_shell/peer_pull streamed and extracted relative to the primary root.
Both now use the app's own root, and peer_shell keeps a single-root
fallback since it runs as a restricted SSH shell with no LibrePortal env.
Also fixes a pre-existing bug found on the way: webui_app_config.sh
tested "$containers_dir/frontend/data/last_update", one level short of the
real tree under the libreportal app dir, so the WebUI refresh trigger
after a config update has never once fired.

Bookstack: create-admin fails on a reinstall because the account is
already provisioned. That took the generic-failure branch, which printed
the upstream defaults (admin@admin.com / password) as "the" login — those
credentials were replaced on the first install, so the one line a user
would act on was the wrong one. Detect "already exists" and say the
existing account was kept and its password not reset.
Firewall: uninstall deleted only resource_type='port', orphaning the
port_tag_*/traefik_managed/url_accessible rows the rebuild reads. Every
rebuild then walked ports for long-gone apps and printed "Skipped: <app>
(app not found)" per row. Widen the uninstall delete to all non-'ip' rows
(the source), and prune already-orphaned rows in the rebuild (the
self-heal). Pruning requires both no container dir AND status != 1 in the
apps table, so a mid-flight install can't prune itself.
Verified on a live bookstack reinstall: admin path reports correctly,
firewall pruned nextcloud + stalwart once, second run silent, 11 rules
added / 0 failed throughout.

'local result=$(cmd)' resets $? to 0 (the local builtin's own exit), so the
following checkSuccess always saw success regardless of cmd's real exit — the
mechanism that masked the de-sudo write failures. Split declaration from
assignment ('local result; result=$(cmd)') across all 235 active-code sites
(84 files) so the command's exit reaches checkSuccess. No behaviour change
beyond $? now being accurate (no set -e in runtime code; multi-line
assignments transform safely).

The firewall rebuild chose ufw-docker vs ufw from $EUID -eq 0 (am I root?)
rather than the docker mode. During a rootless install everything runs as
root, so it wrongly picked ufw-docker — which manages the rooted daemon's
DOCKER-USER chain that rootless never creates — and failed with 'Docker
instance libreportal doesn't exist'. (It was also inconsistent at runtime: the
non-root cron refresh always fell through to plain ufw.) Select by
CFG_DOCKER_INSTALL_TYPE so rootless always uses plain ufw (ports are published
on the host) and rooted always uses ufw-docker.
Also: ufw-docker needs the container name, not the app name — pass
service_name (e.g. libreportal-service) with an app_name fallback; route the
traefik-detect docker ps through runFileOp (was raw docker -> /var/run in
rootless); and move the ufw/ufw-docker sudo calls to runSystem.

firewall_initial_setup + firewall_clear_rules (ufw/ufw-docker),
host_access.sh (sshd/-T/-t, /etc/ssh, authorized_keys, systemctl reload),
set_socket_permissions (docker socket test/chmod), and webui_install_systemd
(systemd unit tee + systemctl) -> runSystem. These stay real-root in both
modes and define part of the eventual scoped allowlist. Left the
'sudo -u <manager> crontab' run-as-manager lines for a dedicated pass.
